Title: And Sometimes
Genre: Romance, non A/R angst
Rating: K+
Summary: Thalia Spencer never believed. (aka: That CIC fangirl gets her say)

Yes, I didnt updated NLNC. Crappy week. But uh....yeah. its 1am and this just hit me like a beer mug during Oktoberfest..

When Thalia Spencer was six, her parents divorced. Kindly as both tried to explain to her, as easy and soft as they made it for her, it was still the most devastating event of her young life.

She stopped talking for at least three months, she couldn't recall exactly, and had sent both her parents into a state of fearful guilt until she'd simply gotten over it. People loved, but it didn't last. Simple.

When Thalia Spencer was twelve, her first crush threw a juice box at her, and for seven months she'd thought her earlier idea was slightly flawed. She was wrong, he ended up moving away and she never saw him again. Aha, she thought, people loved, it didn't last, and sometimes it wasn't anyone's fault. Simple.

When Thalia Spencer was eighteen, she signed up for the Fleet, her earlier understanding leading her to fit in well with the military. No love here but for that of elder officers training the new. There was her co-specialists, her dearest friends. There was her first CO, who laughed when outside CIC and told them all great jokes about pilots and their birds. And then there was Commander Adama, who so obviously loved them all as his own children that it was really quite silly to keep up the tough side of the Old Man. Finally she thought she got it. People loved, romantically it never lasted, family-wise it did, and no one had a say either way.

When Thalia Spencer was twenty two, and the worlds had ended, and the fight between Cylons and Humans stalled above a planet called Earth, she realized something.

She'd been wrong since she was six.

Admiral Adama looked at President Roslin and she knew she was wrong. He smiled, setting down the comm until and nearly twenty years seemed to disappear from his face. His eyes grew light as he picked up her hand and held it between them.

“Take us to Earth.”

Laura Roslin was sick, but for all Thalia saw, she was healthy and glowing and so fraking in love it made Thalia ache to be so too. She looked as young as Thalia herself, and twice as beautiful. She held the Old Man to her, crying her joy into his shoulder. He pulled back gently.

When Thalia Spencer was twenty two years old, her faith in love was restored when Admiral William Adama broke President Laura Roslin's hold among the jubilant crew (plus a wildly excited Lee Adama) and then pulled her right back in a kiss romance novelists would have killed for.

People loved.

And sometimes that moved galaxies.
