A/R Book Club!

Introducing the A/R book club!!!

We are very lucky as a fandom. We have some fantastic writers who have gifted us with wonderful stories. And what better way to come together as a community than by spotlighting and celebrating these artists and their works?

Here's how it will work - Every 2 weeks, a new fic will be 'assigned', and everyone will have one week to read it. Once that week is up, we come together to discuss the story in one big party post. You don't have to sign up to read or participate. We're very informal here. If the discussions get big enough, we might toy with doing a chat here and there as well.

So what are we going to read? Well, that's up to you! Please respond to this post with your favorite stories and recommendations. They can be long or short, epic or drabble. They must be A/R, although stories that center on either Bill or Laura will be considered as long at they allude to the A/R dynamic in some way. All ratings are fine, and appropriate warnings will be posted with the reading assignment.

We do ask that stories be finished. No WIPs or abandoned stories. It's harder to discuss a story arc when it's not yet complete! Also, as long as a story is on a public fan site or unlocked journal (where it was uploaded by the author), it's up for grabs. However, we will always attempt to contact the author and ask their permission. As for authors that are still around - you will have the opportunity to decline your story's participation. With that in mind, we will also ask authors to participate in the discussion. It's not mandatory, but we think it would only add to the process. Of course, this will be a positive and encouraging project. We want to celebrate authors and stories, not criticize them. This will not be Book Club Fight Club.

All comments to this post are screened, and there is one big reason for that - we want as big a story/author pool as possible, and the best way to do that is to not have any idea what everyone else is recommending. It's also the best way to avoid the 'me too!' and 'I second this' comments, which are lovely, but not as creative. ;) Rest assured, once we have a schedule of stories to start with, the comments will be unscreened.

zaleti made our lovely book club graphic. We think it's awesome.
