Authorly Update and One Word Meme Once More

Feb 01, 2012 17:01

So I'm finally all settled in here in my new place and at my new job. The whole moving process was traumatic for me, to put it mildly, but on the whole things are now good in the world of me. If nothing else, I no longer share a bathroom with anyone and I now have a pair of adorable (if neurotic) kittens ( Read more... )

BBC Sherlock:

Burn for you [which just happens to be the title of the track I'm currently listening to!]

Well, by "new" I mean the job I knew I was heading into for two years (b/c of my scholarship program) and that I actually started working at seven months ago, now. Though I am still in the "new kid" phase where I'm only just starting to get responsibilities that relate more to my job title than just to my general good computer/writing/speaking skills.

So apparently I'm a real working adult now. ::scratches head:: Well, not so sure about the adult part. I have a sonic screwdriver, R2-D2 bobblehead, ninja and pirate rubber ducks, and several small games and puzzle toys in my cubicle, the walls of which are covered in the paper airplanes I've made during various lunch breaks. :-D

Hey you! *glomps*

It's great to see you on here again. :)

Sherlock or DW:

I'll do a song title too: If you're going through hell

::glomps you back::

Oooooh, that's a good one. You get a drabble, too. At various points while I was writing this I was convinced the speaker was either Jack, Ten, Sherlock, or John. It seemed like each of them had something to contribute to it. I'll leave it up to you to decide whose voice you hear in the final result.

They say that misery loves company, that like begets like. Yet it’s opposites that attract.

You’re not sure that’s fair, because what did the happy person do to deserve the miserable person raining on his parade? Especially when you know he’s only happy because he’s stronger than you, not because there’s any less misery in his life.

It isn’t fair to ask him to take on yours as well. You know he’ll say yes. He’s that good a person.

But is it really so wrong, if you’re going through hell, to wish that an angel was keeping pace beside you?

Oh, honey! This was brilliant! I'm reading Sherlock's POV here...maybe that's because I've been reading a lot of Sherlock lately. I adore your style. So visceral and just perfect. Thanks so much for writing this for me!

adorable (if neurotic) kittens

...Umm, but aren't both of those words sort of redundant RE kittens? ;)

Definitely true in general. In my specific case, even more true. They were separated from their mother very young and as a consequence don't really know how to be cats in some ways.

Case in point: they understand what the litter box is for, thank heaven, but they've never really grasped the concept of burying their poop. They just scratch at the walls of the box instead.

It's not stupidity, they're quite brilliant at playing fetch and learning to come when I call/whistle. They're just... a bit special. And I love 'em. :-)

Ah, good to hear that they do seem capable of learning -- we've had Simple Cat for 10 years now and she still has a lot of Unclear On The Concept moments about being a cat... {sigh}

I had a pair of simple cats when I was in high school... one was so simple she couldn't even figure out doors. If she went one way through the cat door, and then you opened the people door, she would sit there in the open doorway and cry and not know what to do to go back the other way. Poor baby, life was all just so confusing for her.
