I was reading something earlier that mentioned best covers of songs. Now this is obviously completely subjective. There are a few songs that seem to be universally agreed upon that the cover is better than the original, but usually there is room for debate.

The only thing we're not debating: Zeppelin. I'm sorry but no Zeppelin cover is ever better ( Read more... )

Speaking of Depeche Mode, The Cure covered World is My Eyes. That one kinda messes with my head!

I love the HIM and Stone Sour covers of Wicked Game. I love the original, too, but between the three, I get one for every mood.

Also, No Doubts cover of It's My Life.

I totally agree about Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah.

Great List!

Hallelujah & Mad World are two of my favourite songs of all time, so I totally agree with you there.

I'd never heard Where is My Mind before, but I listened to the original and then the Placebo version and I like the cover a lot more. Thanks for introducing me to that! :)

The incredible Eva Cassidy! Somewhere Over The Rainbow is gorgeous and also her cover of Fields of Gold.

The entire Across the Universe Soundtrack is incredible. Love Jim Sturgess!

Crystal Bowersox! I love her covers of Me and Bobby McGee and Up To The Mountain. I like a lot of her other covers from AI too, but those are my real favourites.

Lastly, the cover of Exit Music (For A Film) by Vampire Weekend is so much better than the original and that's saying something when it comes to Radiohead. :D
