I like this. You can always weave the why in gradually for a big reveal at the end, or just when it would work well in the fic. JMHO. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the imput. I had written this relatively huge backstory for why Johnw as there-and it gave some intel on Jamie, but it got way too serious way too fast, which made the whole thing not work. *rolls eyes*
Didn't think about using someone else, though. I wanted to make it appropriate for SG1 and SGA, but Lorne would work. hmmm....lemme see how it works.
