This makes us laugh, but think about it. Why do children, almost universally, fear hanging a limb over the edge of the bed? I know I used to. Do kids know something we adults have forgotten? I've broached this subject with friends and family before, and it usually elicits uncomfortable chuckles.

I would have to say for me that it is a supersticious fear that is still there from childhood-that there is something under the bed. I know it's silly, but it's there. I could say it's because the cats might claw, but that would be a lie. ;)
