Tear's assumption was right on the mark. Luke was sitting on a bench outside the Ad Libitum guild building - the same bench where he'd been reunited with her, in fact. The redhead couldn't help fidgeting, even as he tried to polish his sword. Luke had almost cut himself twice now because every time he started to focus, his mind would wander again, and he'd find himself thinking about, well, Tear.

Why hadn't he told her how he felt yet? He'd had more than enough opportunity! ...Well, he knew why. He was going to disappear; the last thing she'd have needed back then was for Luke to be selfish and say something stupid like that - and right before the fight with Master Van to boot. And, fine, he'd been a little scared, too. Tear had been with him nearly every step of the way for the past year. What if it drove her away...? He didn't want that to happen ( ... )

Being inclined to both wandering and singing, she found herself just unable to not hum as she walked through the town. And not the usual hymns, even. It was a love song. Nothing vulgar, though she did know bits of a few, a country love song sung in taverns and by women doing their sewing.

She was happy, smiling warmly as she held the tin to her chest, the bright red standing out against her coat. Heart shaped. Really, there should have been something else available. The volume of the song actually increased when she caught sight of that sought after youth, with his sword and looking about a little distractedly. She heard him speak as she got closer, the humming petering out.

"Do something for who?"

He'd been so distracted, in fact, that he'd completely dismissed the pleasant humming, even as it rose in volume. Should he buy her something, bring her lunch, try being extra nice to her...? No, no... He'd been working, sure, but it wasn't enough to get her anything nice. Heck, he wasn't even sure what to get her. Lunch... maybe, but she'd been busy, too. Nice? He was bound to say something really stupid sooner or--

"T-Tear??!"

Luke leapt to his feet as if someone had just dumped a bucket of hot coals into his lap. The sword, forgotten in a moment of panic, clattered back onto the bench.

"Uh... er... what. What are you doing here?!" Luke asked awkwardly, hoping she'd forget whatever she'd just heard him say. It took a moment before Luke could even see straight, but when he'd finally calmed down enough to be observant, he noticed that Tear was carrying something. Something... heart-shaped...? Well, that raised some question marks.

She sighed as he leapt up, trying hard to hide the growing smile. She was, admitedly, curious about what he had been talking about, who this girl was he was thinking about.

"You should be more careful, Luke. You could have hurt yourself." The words were serious, but the tone was hinting at amusement. "You shouldn't be so distracted while working with weapons. You didn't cut yourself, did you?" Instead of sounding concerned, it took the familiar almost mad tone she seemed to use with him fairly regularly. Of course, she was concerned. She just... With talk of him doing something for this girl...

She took a breath, feeling her cheeks flush as she recalled why she had come looking for him. She held out the tin, red and heart shaped and she regreted it. Too obvious. Too tacky. Too close to the truth.

"Th-these are for you."

She frowned, quite aware that he was avoiding the subject. Why? What could be so bad that he wouldn't want to talk to her about it? Hadn't she proven that she was quite capable of helping him through difficult situations.

But, she wasn't going to let that bother her. No. She was going to, quite simplely, move on.

"That does sound quite nice." She followed his gaze and came to a similar conclusion. "Maybe we should start heading back now."

[[OOC: It's fine.]]

"Yeah, I don't usually head out this far," Luke admitted. "Except for that time at the governor's place." Which had been a while ago, really. He'd heard mention of some other places of interest - ruins and some caves, but he hadn't yet checked either of them out.

"Oh good," responded Luke, sounding relieved. He turned slowly and with a final look back over his shoulder, began heading back the way they'd come.

"I think you'll like it." Not only that, but they'd probably be pretty hungry by the time they got back into town.

She nodded. The farthest she had been was that abandonded place they found his sword at. Thankfully this time, there were no ghosts, or rumours of ghosts or anything ghost-like at all. She waited a moment before turing and following him. It was a nice afternoon, at least.

"I'm sure I will." It certainly didn't hurt that Luke was going to be there. They really hadn't spent all that much time together lately. This was good for them, if only he told herwhat was bothering him.

Yep, definitely no ghosts. In fact, they couldn't have asked for a better day. The sun, the temperature, the humidity - it was as if someone had crafted this moment specifically for them. A weird thought.

Luke glanced up at the sunlight filtering through the branches. It seemed alive, almost, but the strange thing was he could have sworn the sun had been shining from that position when they first started out at least a few hours ago. Was he so out of it that his eyes were playing tricks on him, or had they somehow gotten turned around completely?

"Yeah... Hey Tear, do you have any idea what time it was when we left? Or how long we've been walking?"
