I read about two dozen webcomics regularly, but usually don't talk about them.

On Dr Mbotho: Actually, the premise is building off of some cutting-edge stuff (hitting the news now in the West, occasionally) arising from the fact that they're displaying abilities that...well, it's very hard t describe in terms that do not imply sapience. It's worth noting that it's a basic assumption that language is going to be spoken--but humans are one of the handful of species that actually uses mouth noises as the primary form of communication. Most use smell, and imagine what they might think of us! (Especially after a meal of beans and cabbage.)

On Yrek: Write it off as xenobiology--it's actually a bit less easy to believe that all planets will have relatively similar biosystems to Earth than it is to believe that some will have types of life we've never seen on Earth.

The author and I regularly talk biology happily, so I get to know a lot of the sources used.

OK, I just read the entire thing in about 3 sittings. And NOW I'm going to be stuck with the rest of you reading them twice a week!
