A/N: Ugh honestly just kiss already. God.

We all have our vices.

Her palms were damp as Junghee stood just inside the rear entrance to the bar, trying to muster enough courage to push the heavy door open. She had arrived seconds before she was scheduled to go onstage, and kept her eyes glued to the floor as she sang in an attempt to avoid seeing the scorn in Kibum’s eyes before she was ready. She had even considered calling out sick, but as Minjung had rightly said, that would be pathetic. He was just a guy after all, nothing to be scared of.

Maybe Minjung believed it, but Junghee -who was still standing inside the doorway to where Kibum was probably sitting, smoking his customary cigarette, was having a difficult time convincing herself that there really was nothing to be afraid of.

Several minutes passed like that, until Junghee was thoroughly disgusted with herself for being so scared. She almost turned away from the door to drive home in defeat, but after only going two steps, Junghee wheeled around and burst through the door, not leaving herself any time to overthink.

When the door slammed open with a loud bang, she saw Kibum. There he was in his usual spot on the step, eyes wide as he looked around at her, startled by her sudden entrance. When she drew nearer, however, Junghee noticed the absence of Kibum’s personal cloud of noxious smoke. Sitting down next to him, she saw him absently turning a cigarette box over and over in his long fingers. The slight rattling sound that she heard after each turn told Junghee that there were maybe two or three cigarettes still in there.

“You’re not smoking?” she asked, brow knitting in confusion. Kibum didn’t speak for a while, but when he did, it wasn’t to answer her question.

“You made quite an impression on Wednesday.” Junghee flushed and hastened to apologize, but Kibum was still talking, dragging the conversation along at his own pace as usual. “Is that- trying to drunkenly kiss any random stranger, I mean- is it a habit of yours?”

Junghee’s mouth fell open in horror at Kibum's bluntness.

“Of course not!” she said, outraged, standing up. “If that’s what you think- I don’t just kiss random strangers, okay? That’s completely-” The cigarette box halted on its axis as Kibum’s fingers stilled.

“Just me, then?” Junghee went quiet. She looked away from Kibum to hide her face, which was now an insistent shade of red. When she didn’t speak again, Kibum cleared his throat and enunciated his words very clearly. “I said,” he paused, looking at her intently, “Is it just me that you try to kiss?”

Junghee bit her lip anxiously, still unwilling to look at him. She cursed herself for stammering a bit when she spoke up.

“I-I” she frowned and her voice strengthened on her next words. “I just meant that you’re not a random stranger. That’s all.” She folded her arms over her chest and finally gathered the courage to look Kibum in the eye again. He was regarding her with a skeptical stare, his fingers resumed turning the box of cigarettes over and over in his lap.

“Oh?” he quirked an eyebrow. “But you hardly know me.”

“I know enough,” she said tersely. Because his disbelieving smirk was still there, and was irritating Junghee to no end, she rattled off a list of things she knew about Kibum, starting at the more obvious and ranging all the way into the minute details she had picked up mainly through intuition.

“-The way you always like to be well dressed, you probably have your clothes tailored; the way you loved your grandmother so much, and even though you didn’t tell her as much as you think you should have I’m sure she knew you did; the way you’re always three steps ahead in a conversation; the way-” Junghee stopped speaking when Kibum stood up abruptly, his hands clenched around the box of cigarettes. Handing the box to her, he asked,

“Could you throw this away for me?” Junghee took it, confused.

“But there’s still some in here. You don’t want them?” Kibum smiled sardonically at her.

“Someone told me I smelled like cigarette ash, so I’m trying to quit.” Junghee gaped at him, still clutching the box in her hand. Kibum’s smile grew. “Close your mouth. Smoking is a nasty habit anyway; it’s about time I quit.” Junghee’s face broke into a broad smile, tossing the cigarettes in the dumpster and bouncing over to Kibum, who was looking at her like she was insane.

“Let’s go eat something. I’ll treat you. As a reward or something. Come on, let’s go!” This did not appear to comfort Kibum at all, who looked at his watch and said incredulously,

“It’s almost nine, though.”

“So?” she asked, nonplussed.

“I thought girls weren’t supposed to eat after nine.” Junghee laughed at the look of genuine confusion on his face.

“For one, do I look like I need to watch my figure? Two, we’re celebrating, so it’s fine. And three, the rule is no eating after eight anyway.” Kibum smiled at this, and Junghee was thrilled that for the first time she had been able to knock the unflappable Kibum out of his comfort zone.

“Alright, but you’re paying.” He smirked at her. She rolled her eyes in response, saying airily,

“Well, obviously. Let’s go!”
