So I spent all day worried about Pugsley (of course). She wasn't eating or drinking last night or this morning. I raced home expecting to find her in a coma or something ( Read more... )

So you know, she's done that back before she went to you, and I think it was a matter of weight gain/stress on her joints from the oral steroids she used to take. She messed herself up a few times jumping off the couch or bed.

Glad she seems to be doing a bit better.

I'm going to have to go through and make some things "spine friendly" for her. The bed, the couch... she can't be jumping down from those. I'm finally going to make her a doggie bed since I know she likes having a soft, cushy place to lie on. Also, she does that rear-up and slam her paws thing down when strange dogs are outside. I'll have to curb that. The doc even said that her hips are fucked up... a birth thing. So I've got her the "fat girl food" to keep her weight down. She's normally 50... she gained 4 lbs. since mid-August!

Did I tell you Bailey had a back injury, too, shortly after we figured out about his kidney illness? Apparantly the anemia he had because of the kidney thing made him light headed, and he got excited when we came home, and jumped up to go run down the steps, and fell.

The good news is that the steroids and painkillers helped, the bad news is that I was having to carry him up and down the staris for two weeks every time he had to eat, pee, or do anything else for that matter. Royal pain in the dick, but he did eventually heal, and now he's living as normal of a life as he can right now. I trust Pugs will recover as quickly or quicker, especially with a concerned mamma around the house.
