i'm confused about what this meeting is all about. democracy in north carolina? maybe i'm just totally missing something, but...what's going to happen, exactly?
this state is gonna be a battleground in the next election. we want to get as many people as we can registered, and we want to get everyone to the polls.
and we want bush to lose, when they get there. but im convinced that the more people get registered, and the more people vote, the more people will vote against bush.
we are not anti-republicans-registering-to-vote, as many republicans have now said they will vote for kerry (that's how NC, a red state for decades, is within 3 points of going to kerry), but we aren't pro-republicans either...somewhere in between.
as to the age question: there is an enormous amount of work that can be done by those too young to vote. we must make up for that unfortunate statistic by getting others to register and vote for us. almost no one involved with this group will be able to vote this year. but that limits us very minorly.

and if you're not of age to register...i hesitate to say "what's the point?" but, it's what i'm thinking.
i'm confused, and naive. and should quite possibly quit talking...now.
