"She's going to kick me out of the play!"
"She can't do that, we're too close to the performance. Besides, it's not like it hinders your acting, she'll understand!"
"She'll know I didn't relax, she'll-"
"She knows we at least went to the deckchair theatre. That's well enough. She saw you happy there and quiet for once."
Carefully Sal grabbed hold of her other arm, and dragged her quicker. They were late already for rehearsal and would held everyone else up, they couldn't afford to waste any more time. They were both tired from a night lacking of sleep due to where they had gone, and there was a long day ahead of them, it wasn't doing Tahla any well at all to be working herself into a panic now.
"Don't make me knock you out so I can carry you there," Sal mock threatened, hugging her close as she laughed nervously.
"There you two are!" Aunty Lou suddenly met them at the back door, causing Tahla to break free from Sal nervously. Her arm in a cast there for all to see.
"...Oh...what happened?" To Tahla's surprise but not Sal's, their teacher sounded worried as she inspected the wrist carefully, looking up at Sal for an explanation without anger in her eyes at all.
"After the deckchair theatre we went out for ice cream before we went home." Salvator explained while Tahla looked embarrassed, knowing what was coming. "I left her alone for not even three minutes to go to the ATM, and by the time I came back she was in a fist fight."
"He distracted me," Tahla spoke up quietly. "While I was distracted, one of the guys grabbed my wrist."
"She has a fracture." Sal continued. "And so she thinks you're going to kick her out of the play for it..."
Their teacher couldn't help but laughing. "Oh Tahla, you're so dramatic. You're staying in the production, it's even in your character to have a broken wrist really isn't it? Both Rin and Uo are rough and tumble types, always getting into fights so it just makes you more in character really doesn't it? We could add in a line when you first enter as both characters asking what happened, so try to come up with something completely different for each, okay?"
"Maybe they could have been fighting each other." Sal suggested with a grin, even though both of her characters had never met in their lifetimes. "How late are we?"
"Not too late, if you hurry now you won't hold us up, you just might miss out on part of the warm ups." Aunty Lou stepped aside and let Tahla and Sal enter, shaking her head as soon as they were out of sight. That girl would either be one of the best actress Australia had ever seen, or she would crash and burn horribly, probably dragging Sal down with her.
For both of their sakes, their teacher hoped it was the first.
