They're wound around each other, holding one hand each with their other arm spread out wide for balance. They start in a circle as tight as they can get, all facing the same way and they have to hold the hand of the person directly across from them. The inside is a tangle of arms, hands fisted together and elbows, breath hot on the back of everyone’s necks, certain people blushing faintly at the feel of bodies pressed up against bodies.
Slowly now, they all leaned back at the same time, feet trying to stay put and yet they couldn't help shuffling a little.
"Don't freakin' tickle me." Tahla growled to Salvator as she leaned down slowly against his chest, making the others in the group snicker as well and a few more pinches to spread throughout the spiral they were making with their bodies.
"Slowly now." their trainer encouraged as the group slowly inched lower around each other, their bodies curving as they fell lower and lower in their framework.
"What is this supposed to build again?" Toby asked in a determinedly steady voice as he was concentrating solely on not falling over and dragging the team down with him.
"Many things." their teacher replied. "Does anyone want to offer suggestions as to what it can teach?"
"Balance?"
"Teamwork."
"Control over your own body."
"Feeling comfortable with your group."
"Strategy."
Their trainer nodded. "It's a trust exercise to teach you to learn how to control your own body better, and also to trust your team mates to be able to do the same. Here, you rely on each other to keep you all up, one person can't save the team here and not a single one person is in control, you all are at the same level...as long as you're all working toward the same goal. If one of you isn't, you'll fall. It is a full contact exercise, which can be embarrassing, however, we are learning how to not feel self conscious with each other. Remember, what goes on in this room remains in the room and remains with us. We don't gossip about each other here, and anyone caught doing this shall be removed from the group."
Several of the students rolled their eyes at this, they'd heard this explanation and threat more than a hundred times now...
"Hey, watch it!" Nate suddenly exclaimed as Tommy behind him seemed to slip, and then in the next instant their spiral was wreaked and they were all painfully on the ground, several feet hitting the backs of those in front of them awkwardly.
"How the mighty have fallen." their trainer looked on, amused. "Shall we try it again or would you like another exercise?"
"We'll try it again." Tahla spoke for the group immediately, fire in her eyes, determined to complete this properly. The were supposed to resemble a spiral as they lay flat on the person behind them. And they would complete it. In full. Or else.
