Dad's off to Hawaii for a week

"I've heard good things about Kona, I wish I could meet up with you for a couple days."

"I'm not really excited about it to tell you the truth"

"Well, why don't you stay then?...Wait, why aren't you excited?"

"Oh, you know, airports and the long plane ride..."

Hawaii is beautiful... Tell him it could be worse, he could live in North Carolina and have to take another 4 hour plane ride just to get to where you guys are...

Slap him for me when he comes back - in the back of the head...

He's at a very funny time in his life. Real strong tough guy is getting not so strong and tough any more with old age. Life is mostly inconvenient for him, even a vacation!

I love long plane rides and airports. I love the excitement of going somewhere, anywhere without the responsiblities of my life here.
