Radish Pi: Feedback wanted!

Oct 14, 2008 12:27

I decided yesterday that I really prefer radishes. To what, you might ask? It doesn't matter. Radishes are truly an awesome fruit--err, vegetable?--thing!

Radishes are both fresh and spicy. They taste slightly of wasabi, or perhaps mustard, but have a coolness to them that balances the burn. They germinate and grow in a matter of weeks, and are in ( Read more... )

Here are my free-association-type ideas:

Radish's Last Stand (no particular reason for it, I just like the way it sounds)
Blue-Eyed Radish (the radish with a political gleam in his eye)
Citizen Radish
The Donkey's Radish (vs. DonkeyRadish)
Radish Soup (as in, taking a bunch of different ideas and mixing them together)

Of the ones you listed, I like Radish Pi the best (although I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as radish pie).

Also, you say you prefer radishes - prefer them to what? Tomatoes? Grapefruit? Okra?

The Radish: a la "The Onion."
Radishion: because juxtaposing complex fields with simple mathematical operations is dangerously fun. Alternate spellings: raddition, radish-tion, radish+ion.
The Radical Radish and other "Beat" anatomy. (though this may not accurately describe your political views. Nor is the radish a member of the beet family.)
Taproot: thoughts to eat. (Wikipedia says the taproot is a part most commonly used in cooking.)

I like The Radish. Simple, to the point, clever, non-goofy.

And I would love to read your blog, dude.

Radishalism?
The Active Radish?
Honestly, i like the idea of calling the blog Radishes. Maybe each post would be a "radish".

If you'd like, i'll make a radish pie soon and take a photo and let you know how it tastes.

You're wrong: there is nothing tasty about radishes. Anyhoo, I vote Radish Pi. :D

How about this: The Daily Radish. It ties into the name of Andrew Sullivan's blog, "The Daily Dish", and thus immediately makes evident that it's discussing politics (which you want people to pick up on right away) but from a decidedly unorthodox perspective.

As for the content, it sounds like a good idea. I'd just advise you, of course, to be wary of taking any metaphor too far when transplanting it from its original domain. But I think it's a very interesting idea for a blog.

Hehehe. I actually thought along similar lines and went with the New Radish. The domain's registered and WordPress is installed, but I need to get my graphic designer on the job before I'll be ready to print anything.

Could you say a little bit more about transplanting metaphors?

Err, New Radish <-> New Republic, if you didn't get that.

I can't be much more specific--I just mean, make sure you don't stretch your conclusions just to fit the "systems" premise. I also don't know much about systems biology, so the approach may be broad and very applicable.
