I'm all for not caring about what people think of me.
I used to care so much in high school, but had had enough of it by the time I entered college. After defining myself fully first year, I don't care at all anymore. Also, I'm adamantly (sp) opposed to dressing up or changing just to please someome (unless it's someone I like and want to be attractive for them). I don't know if that made any sense.
Yes, but it's not really *that* kind of self-consciousness. It's more that I always say something stupid because I'm so nervous that I'll say the wrong thing. The rest has become true for me, though, just as you said, and for many of the same reasons.
