A short sharp shock

This hungover freshman-looking fellow in McBryde asked me for a "cig" the other day. If it had just been a cigarette, I wouldn't have cared. It doesn't bother me to be mistaken for a smoker. For some reason, though, I couldn't help but think that anyone who called a cigarette a cig was even more of a retard* than a chain-smoker ( Read more... )

I call them cigs and, more often, "chokes."

I don't know. I got the term from my dad, who also has the habit of dropping Polish words into conversation.

everyone's got a term. personally, when i want a cigerette, i usually try to "bum a fag" just 'cause british terminology makes me grin. give the frosh a break, they're only trying to be cooler than they think asking for a smoke would make 'em. although really, they should know that it's a much easier bet to try to get a "cig" or wahtever you want to call it from someone who's actually smoking one at the time. but if you're desperate, anyone who looks "rebelious" often is a good bet, i guess.

Oh, I was very nice to him.

Bum a fag is actually creative though, at least.

Or how about, "Hey man, you got any death sticks?" =P

You! We should hang out.

Don't be mean. I think copying another culture's mannerisms is quite alright and cool, particularly for the worldliness reason.
