Lol, I don't know how the angst plot skrewts find me, but they always do. I've been trying to write some shower!porn for weeks but keep getting mauled by woobieness
I'm not sure where my whole 'let's send Dean to college' thing came from...but, eh. I got it out of my system.
Your ficlet worked really well, no doubt about that, but I can't imagine Dean being much interested into college. That said, I can get behind the idea of Dean wondering if he doesn't want to go forward in his studies because of the family thing or because he really isn't interested in it. It must be hard for him to know where he starts and his family ends.

That does seem Dean-like. I like the idea of that indecision. He'll wonder, but not chew it to pieces like Sam. Just one of those things to put behind him and focus on the job at hand.
Until messing around with this I'd never thought of Dean seriously in the college context either, though I'd dropped in on some discussions about it. Lol, though I'm still not convinced about the whole baseball thing.
i like the idea that dean applies to college out of defiance, and not necessarily because he really wants to go. i love that he gets pastor jim to run interference because he can't tell his dad, and i love his little tinge of of regret when sam gets into stanford - i don't know if dean has done (or not done) a lot of things in his life that he regrets, but it fits with the fic that he wishes he hadn't settled.
Heh. I just had this scenario with the guidance counselor patronising him because she thinks he can't get into college/wants him to consider a less challenging school/whatever. And Dean's like 'Oh hell no you don't!'
The ending was unexpected. I was toying around with different ways to close it all up and that just sort of...happened.
he won't give him a straight answer Exactly. I really like digging into Dean's head and exploring things he'd never tell anyone. And yeah, the shapeshifter. I loved him. If only because he takes a little of what Dean wants and puts it out there. Thanks so much for reading :)

Although, I don't think Dean really wanted to go to college. I think he really likes the hunt, family brainwashing aside :)
