okay, people who really and truly get upset and bump heads over the vanessa/jenny squabble--i, uh. no. that's--seriously? i have one question for these people, i guess: you do know the show is called gossip girl ... right?

shipping wars are stupid (in a hilarious-for-the-observer kind of way, i'll admit), but shipping wars for gossip girl are just, um. no. move on. read some literature, watch a good film, step outside and build a snowman or something. jeezum.

oh man. i totally admit to being horrifically mean to vanessa. and i'm okay with that. it's a venting thing for me, i've discovered, to get back at my own teenage bullies that i haven't quite let go of yet. and these are things dated back to middle school, for christ's sake.

so though i may come off as unintentionally mean, it's directed at a fictional character. not the people who like her.

....you do realize that Vanessa is not the bully of the show, right? I mean, she's a lot of things, but a bully? That's Penelope & co. Vanessa is, I think, representative of a fairly typical demographic of teenage girls, one who, yes, can do mean things on occasion (because when you come right down to it, teenagers do, end of story) but isn't, like, an evil person or something. Whereas Blair's minions are constantly mean just for the hell of it, just because they can. Huge difference, to me.

I wasn't addressing you specifically, you know, so you needn't feel attacked. The friending meme kind of sparked it, though- how many times did I see "I HATE Vanessa" or "Vanessa/Death" listed in people's comments? And a lot of that has carried over to your own flist, now, and I feel like if I speak up from my own liking-Vanessa stance I'm basically asking to be attacked and, y'know, that sucks. And as Cami points out, it is a tv show. (Also I do not consider it coincidental that I have reaped no new friends from that meme, despite my wide array ( ... )
