Wonderful picspam. (comment to the whole picspam, btw)
As silly as it may sound, I almost cried when Marcel threw the cigarrette to that pile of nitrate film. It's probably because one of my subjects last year involved a lot of talking of film restoration and now I'm quite sensitive to that. I suppose that I also have to blame that subject that I behaved like a geeky fangirl when Frederick introduced Emil Jannings to Shosanna (LOL)
Also, PLEASE WRITE THAT BASTERDS/KOMMISSAR REX FANFIC. I, for one, would really appreciate it, since Kommissar Rex is one of my childhood series (alongside with "Walker Texas Ranger" and "I, Claudius"... yeah, better don't ask). And this has given me some ideas, too, for fanfics...(Mainly one concerning a young!Max -you know, poor Wilhelm's son- and Landa in Nantucket...)
I don't think that it sounds silly at all. When you are that emotionally invested in something, it makes perfect sense (you don't even want to know half of the things that I almost cry about when it comes to things that I am invested in ;p).
I think I'm going to have to write that crossover now, because it seems to have peaked a few people's interests. And I'm happy that it has inpired more fic. :D
I love you for that picspam, seriously. The dvd isn't out until January and I can't get enough of this film, the cinematography is fabulous. And yeah, Eli Roth looks way too excited xD
Aww, thank you, I'm really happy that you enjoyed them. :D I can't get enough of this movie (as you can probably tell), so it was a pleasure just to make all of the picspams. <3
Somehow, I don't think the phrase "too excited" is one that enters into Eli Roth's vocabulary. ;)
Oh, Landa and his knife kink ... I still don't understand Landa/Aldo (or Aldo/Landa) shippers. Strange people. Hellstrom has a knife, too. Oh. OH! *notes idea for La musica 3*
Thanks for this gorgeous, wonderful, amazing picspam. *mems* You are an awesome person, and everything. :)
I can see Landa/Aldo, maybe. Aldo/Landa, just no. It would be the kind of pure physical violence I already hated in the scene with Donny and Werner. I love bottom!Landa, but the only person with whom I can see that is Hellstrom. Anyone else might be able to force Landa to bottom, but nothing more, and that's something I don't want to see. But, hey, I'm not bashing here, to each their own. I just don't see it. :)
SCREEEEEEEENCAAAAAAAAAAPS! YESSS! These'll be fuelling my fanart-to-come ^^
"Aww, poor Hermann number... I think this was the third Hermann, wasn't it?" - I think that last guy was Hermann number four... 'cause all Nazis of minor significance are named Hermann, apparently O_O
Hmmm. You know, I never considered the possibility of Aldo being QT's very own Gary-Stu - but you know somethin', fellow obsessive Basterds fangirl? I think you're right. On both accounts. *nods*
Hee, that is awesome about all of the Nazis of minor significance being called Hermann. It's readomg things like this that make me love this movie even more. :)
I don't think Aldo is QT's Gary-Stu, as such. Well, nowhere else except for when he says that line. ;)
...his arms look freakishly long, 'cause I experimented with perspective (my Achilles heel :P), failing miserably - other than that, though, I'm quite pleased with it. Btw, I'm doing one of Landa right now, and I've got ideas for Stiglitz, Bridget, and Utivich ^^
I notice all these new things every time I see the film... like how there's a burning person (a woman, methinks) being hurled out of the window of the cinema when it blows up, LOL XD And how Aldo and Utivich seem to have switched places between the shot where we see Landa's legs trashing about when they're scalping him (I dunno how else to describe that shot) and when they're scoping out Aldo's "masterpiece".
Ooh, I really like that. It actually reminds me a lot of the poster art for Shaun of the Dead, which is always a good thing. :D And Landa art! *flails*
Yeah, I notice little things like that all of the time as well. For example, when Shosanna is leaning against the window at the beginning of chapter five, there's a poster for a Bridget film on the wall across the road. The tiny details in the movie just make me love it even more. :)
This was absolutely wonderful. I love these picspams dearly, cos when I'm not able to watch this movie at home, on my computer, or on my iPod, or read the screenplay, I like to look at pictures from it. (No, I'm not obsessed!) Loved the counts of Eli looking all excited almost as much as I loved the pictures of it. :D And you aren't the only one giggling at 'Hermann the German'. I like to think QT did that on purpose.
Thank you! Oh, don't worry, it's perfectly okay to be a little obsessed (well, that's what I tell myself when I do the exact same things that you have listed anyway. ;p)
I'm glad you enjoyed it (as well as being glad that I'm not the only one who giggles about "Hermann the German").

I've already made one of Donny:
