Everlong and Killing In The Name Of were definitely the most surprising picks in the top 10. I mean, I had that latter pegged for a top 20 appearance soley based on the fact that the song hadn't appeared as of yet, but I never thought it would claim the second position. As for Everlong, I really can't muster up anymore of a reaction than meh.
I was shocked by the lack of females in any capacity. There were only 2 female vocalists in the whole countdown (both of the Massive Attack songs), and a handful of songs in which females play instruments.

What that forum poster said does make sense, but I think the fact is, when you think about it, how many of your top ten songs featured females? I mean, my list had 2, but I never really expected those songs to feature in the hottest 100 anyway.
The whole thing just shows how good 90s music is!
I agree. You sort of forget about the 90s stuff, because the "classics" tend to all be from the 60s/70s, but you listen to a countdown like this, in which the majority of voters would have been teens in the 90s, and you sort of rediscover that music didn't end in 1979 ;p
