Awesome, awesome, awesome!

I am always happy to have more State of Play fic and thrilled to see one from you, you always get the darker side of things just right and this pairing needs dark. Cal being so bitter and only wanting for himself, and Stephen being so similar, so selfish...It works. I somehow knew Cal would end up being completely fucked by Stephen, that power is a hard thing to turn down.

I want to see the revenge. Yes? Please?

Thanks. I completely agree that this pairing needs darkness. The whole show is really quite dark, and the power struggle between Cal and Stephen, both people who are used to getting their own way, perfectly exemplifies that. And Cal could never be top, because Stephen just has that sense of entitlement, he needs to have that control otherwise he loses it, and that feeling is just stronger in Stephen than it is in Cal.

As for the revenge, it may be written *evil grin* Although, it may be a little bit more on the het side of things...

Oh love there is nothing wrong with the het side of things, especially in this area of revenge if we get a nice, hot, dirty dose of Cal/Anne. Fucking yes please!

That's the direction it will probably go in - just because I can see Cal using Anne, at least at the start, to get his own back. And oh yes, it would be dirty ;p

Excellent and I'm so glad our nudging helped you finish this. The dark mood and the bitterness of it is perfect for these two characters. And I have to tell you how much I loved the cigarette scene after all that lovely talk about Mr Simm and cigarettes (and yes, I realize it was Stephen here doing the smoking). The beer bottle play on Cal's part, the tease was so hot. Love that description. You really did get Cal's character down here, particularly at the end when Stephen is crying into his pillow and Cal only thinking of himself and revenge. Such a powerplay between these two that you captured so well. Nicely done. And I'm with candesgirl re a revenge sequel. :)

Thanks, I'm grateful for the nudging ;) And thanks for what you said about getting Cal's character right, because I was struggling with it for a bit towards the end there (particulalrly in the last flashback scene).

Glad you liked it, and as for the revenge sequel, as I said to candesgirl it may be disappointingly on the het side of the smut scale.

Oh, the het revenge is definitely appropriate for SoP so that would not be disappointing at all. It would make complete sense actually. I think it's more the possessive side of Cal that made him want Stephen, not the actual man-sex, you know.

I agree, I think Cal is more infatuated with the power that Stephen wields, rather than the actual sex part, he only goesfor men if they have that sense of power, whereas he's somewhat less selective in regards to women. And in his mind there is probably no greater way to mess with Stephen than to mess with people he holds close to him, or at least used to.

Goddamn, that was hot. I love angry!sex, the fact that it was all about Stephen calling the shots when it was Cal who wanted him so badly made it so perfect. Cal lying on his side panting as Stephen drove into him from behind, his thrusts becoming increasingly hard and erratic caused a serious blood rush down :p

Tiiiiny concrit... There are 28 parliamentary constituencies in Manchester. I know, I know, I'm a politics nerd. But I reckon that Stephen would be the honourable member for Manchester Central. But feel free to ignore me. I'm just a pedant.
