Verrrry interesting! Jayne doesn't want things to change, or to acknowlege the changes. Is he afraid of what he'll find if he does look with new eyes? Or afraid she's just tricking them all - tricking him? Waiting with anticipation for your next chapter!
Jayne's getting all riled up about her being normal, that could prove extremely interesting! I love how he mistook mourning for morning. Aint had breakfast. Cool!
Really intriguing insight there at the end -- that Jayne's anger at River and the changes in her behavior and interactions with the rest of the crew has something to do with his OWN mourning process. I wonder if his rage at the idea that anything -- other than Wash's death -- has changed on the ship has to do with mourning his old work-out buddy Shepherd Book?
Book wasn't with them on the ship anymore before his death, so perhaps his death doesn't affect the rest of the crew the same way that Wash's absence does, but for Jayne to acknowledge any changes beyond Wash's death means that he'd have to acknowledge to himself that Book isn't still alive out there somewhere, but is well and truly gone.
Is that possibly part of what's bugging him? (Well, that and a latent attraction to River, perhaps?)
