I love how you focused in giving Aeon the background and personality, how deep was his relationship with Malachite and how it didn't came to be because of fear of change. I adore the brotherly love between Insano and Spoony and how all of them can see how they are part of each other (and that kiss, hehehe)

Excellent job, missy!

Writing their interaction was one of my favorite parts.

and how all of them can see how they are part of each other

Linkara has special magic vision that lets him see things like that.

(and that kiss, hehehe)

I thought you might enjoy that bit :D

Excellent job, missy!

Thank you :D

This was wonderful to read. I've been wondering about Aeon and Malachite ever since Suburban Knights, and your descriptions of them being friends - but failing to be more than that - really fit them and fleshed them out great. I especially liked the explanation of Aeon learning magic, as well; it actually fits the canon nicely, and explains why he'd have an understanding of making something that works against magic. Aeon reincarnating into both Spoony and Insano I totally didn't see coming, and it was the perfect twist that also made their brotherly relationship very interesting!

Spoony is awesome here, by the way, he's so nonchalant about Linkara and Insano's relationship, ha ha ha. xD

Me too.

I think that if Aeon had let go of his fear of change, and accepted Malachite's courtship, things would have gone very differently. Malachite probably wouldn't have dove so strongly into his magic research, and he wouldn't be filled with quite as much anger and jealousy. But he didn't, and so Malachite became twisted.

I especially liked the explanation of Aeon learning magic, as well; it actually fits the canon nicely, and explains why he'd have an understanding of making something that works against magic.

There was a throwaway line by the Voice of the Ancient World that mentioned Malachite teaching Aeon magic, and Aeon teaching Malachite Alchemy, and I ran with it, because I had the image of them being young and teaching each other in secret.

Wow, you're right, and I'd wholly forgotten about that before you mentioned it. You could've gotten away with the honour of coming up with the explanation all by yourself, ha ha. :D

And I decided to go with that second option, because it allowed for a lot of fun interaction.

You made the right choice! Not that the other option wouldn't have been interesting, too, but there's just much more emotional investment (not to mention insanity and dysfunctionality...) with a soul split into two people.

"If the other half of your soul is in love with Linkara, what does that make you, huh?" And Spoony will deny it so hard. Whether he's telling the truth or not is up to you.

Well, obviously the solution to that is a threesome, ehe-he-he... *shot*

Haha, I never even thought of that! But really it was Doug and Rob who should get credit.

You made the right choice!

Thanks!

Ahhhhhh, I LOVE this entire fic.

Where to start? The deepening relationship between Malachite and Aeon is handled brilliantly at the beginning, with a lot of emotional weight and complexity, and it makes it all the more heartbreaking because I as the reader was all "rrrrgh Malachite don't make this decision" but I knew he would anyway, and it was heartbreaking.

The rationale for Aeon's soul tearing in two to form Insano and Spoony was brilliant. Spoony's speech to Malachite was a huge-ass CMoA. And the True Love's Kiss...I wibbled. A lot.

This was so very lovely and sad and all-round wonderful. Thank you for this!

Yay! :D!

I'm glad, because if the Aeon/Malachite relationship doesn't work, than the fic doesn't work.

The rationale for Aeon's soul tearing in two to form Insano and Spoony was brilliant.

I honestly might have stolen that from Yersi, I don't even remember. We're practically the same person anyway. But thank you!

Spoony's speech to Malachite was a huge-ass CMoA.

I had that written long before I actually started writing this fic. I found that in my abandoned WIP folder and it fit PERFECTLY so I took it and put it in here.

And the True Love's Kiss...I wibbled. A lot.

Ah, good! I was hoping to cause a few wibbles.

This was so very lovely and sad and all-round wonderful. Thank you ( ... )
