Oi, today I got mistaken first for a Mexican, then for a Brazilian, both of which make me happy in a weird way.  First at walgreens the cashier waved and said "hasta luego, gracias" when I paid for the nasal spray I was buying (my boyfriend is an old man for real).  Granted, I was with a brown person who wasn't speaking English, but *I* was ( Read more... )

Hahaha...I love your anecdotes. They make me wonder what I might be doing now if I actually loved South and Central America as much as the other COPA kids did. Am I the only one who was down there because I wanted to really learn Spanish, and not because I adored the culture (I don't)?

Isn't it awesome being taken for someone NOT American?

You are not alone! You must recall my immense frustration with Argentine culture, hence our near-daily visits to el Grido helados. True, I fell more in love with it second semester, but not the first one. And I'm pretty sure most of the guys were there mostly to look for women and have a semester in pseudo-Las Vegas.

Ha ha haa! Oh I love the job application; you hit it right on the head there, Raquel. Oh how I wish you could actually write that on the application: "Well, economically speaking, I have a good/service which you desire, and I desire to be financially compensated, so together I think we could do very well!" lol

You people and your dark hair have a chance, I am screwed. That's what I blame it on anyway. =) Oh! I was occasionally mistaken for Briish, which was nice, but never any sort of latino =(
