I had to throw away a couple of my main plants because of mites (I need to get around to buying some neem oil, supposedly helps keeps those pests away). Luckily, I had planted some leaves for propagation weeks ago, before the mite issue was apparent. The first one came through!
Started on 9/13:
Used this page for directions on how to do this:
Rob's Violets I have five other leaves still rooting, which were planted much later, from my other two plants (one of which seems fairly healthy and mite-free, here's hoping). Never thought this would be so easy! The cool part is that once the plantlets are big enough, I can pot them separately and propagate more plantlets from the mother leaf. So much fun taking care of tiny little plants!

In other news... not much going on really. Classes and work. And wow we are getting early snow here in Jersey. Big fluffy snowflakes coming down outside my window!
I'm glad I cleaned up the patio garden this weekend when it was still relatively warm outside. What is especially nice is how well the strawberry plants are doing. By next spring I'll have lots of strawberries!! Next year I want to plant more flowers...
...going to have some tea and enjoy watching the snow before work...
