At least jot a few things down

On the new business front- I've gotten my bank accounts sorted out so I can start collecting receipts in the hope of making most of my life tax deductible.  Or something.

On the writing front, I've been making steady progress, though I'm not sure how close I actually am to that elusive "done".

11000 / 30000 words. 37% done!

Keep in mind that the 30 ( Read more... )

It's fun reading about your writing process. I never wrote much, but the little writing I did do was always handwritten first. Your process sounds a lot like what I used to do.

Good luck getting it finished. If you need a little extra time after the August 31 deadline, you can have a few weeks yet in September. It's going to take me a little time to get everything coded (not that I have that many entries, I'm just a little lazy and distracted). :-)

Tax deductible is nice even if it doesn't pay off for a while.

I was kind of hoping for Ninja penguins now...

First off, welcome back from China. Sorry to hear from your report that it didn't go as well as planned. It is no fun when your 'tour group's' idea of touring and your idea of touring doesn't mesh (been there, done that, no fun all around.) That being said, very jealous that you got to experience it none the less.

Also its cool to see you aren't reserving writing just for nanowrimo. If you find yourself getting even more interested in the craft, I highly recommend 'On Writing' by Stephen King. I was surprised how well it was written when I picked it up. It is part biography and part advice for anyone interested in the craft.

Also, congrats on setting up your own business.

Hey, long-time-no-see. Hope things are going okay for you these days? It looks like you've been through some major changes.

I've got a friend who also recommended "On Writing" so I'll see if I can borrow it :)

And thanks :)

Heh... 'major changes' is one way of defining it. But it had to happen and it was the for the better, at least for me anyway.

May just have to arrange a rendezvous with one another next time I'm up north, and have a functional amount of time without other obligations, and catch up.

If you and Meg are interested, there is a really good band playing at The Jupiter Hotel on Oct 8th @ 8pm. They are called Krotch Rockit (an 80's hair-metal tribute band.) Very good, very talented. I may be going... it depends on what my finances are like. Unfortunately most of my monies just got blown away in vet bills.

Glad to hear it's been a good thing for you, as opposed to the alternative.

Drop me a note next time you'll be up this way, we can grab a coffee or something at the least :)

The concert sounds interesting, but I doubt we'll make it between finances and whatnot... But have a good time if you go.
