Oops, forgot pants

I've been trying really hard lately to practice mindfulness, because I am tired of constantly losing things. I went through and tagged my entire LJ over the holidays, and the fact that "losing my stuff" earned fifteen entries and that I was struggling with this very issue in 2004 really says a lot ( Read more... )

Aaaargh. Sucks huge. And you're right -- it seems lucky for a fishing expedition. My instant gut suspicion is that if your boss was always telling you to lock it, well, are they the sort to take them out to "teach you a lesson"?

Shitty, but better than the alternative of friends stealing from you (maybe not you but your freekin desk!)

No, my boss has better things to do, like working 12 hours a day and most weekends. This thing wasn't even on his radar. Nice try to cheer me up though! :)

The saddest thing is, this is not the first time we've had thefts at the office, though it's the first time that I know of at our new location. Our current office is pretty "open" and I've seen random strangers wandering around in the past. Our old office was completely locked and the only way you could get in was via keycard, so the fact that several people had their purses stolen... well, you catch my drift.

well crap. I've had that sort of boss before, as you can probably tell. This can't really count as you losing them though!

I need to stop beating myself up about not keeping better track of them, though. It was ultimately my responsibility and having to tell our EVP of Finance and hearing him ask if the drawer was locked... painful.

Your mantra to stay organized reminds me of what that Samuel L. Jackson character does in 'The Long Kiss Goodnight', singing his checklist to himself so he wouldn't forget stuff...

Sorry about the rest - that is a bad way to end the holiday season.
