The horror, the horror

I went to see Stardust and one of the previews was for the travesty that will be the new movie based very loosely on Susan Cooper's The Dark is Rising, which happens to be one of my favorite books. It is now called The Seeker: The Dark is Rising, because... well, I don't know why. I can't even begin to describe what an utter shitpile this looks ( Read more... )

I saw the preview as well, I think when we saw the Simpson's movie (maybe), and spent the entire time muttering imprecations and telling BH that we were NOT going to see that movie because it was WRONG IN EVERY POSSIBLE WAY. And he loves those books, too.

Earlier this year I got the first two books in the series in translation for the boy, both he and I love them a lot. Unfortunately the publisher seems to have dropped the translations mid-series, so I'll probably have to get the remaining books in English. But seeing as the boy's read the entire HP series in English now it'll probably be all right.

Sorry to hear that the film seems to suck. :(

Would you be interested in Rhett icons? I've made a whole bunch!

I miss you. All my thinking of moving my fannish stuff off LJ has made me want to pick up a personal journal here again but I just don't know where to start.

Poop. I love those books too.

I was very sad when they made The Bridge to Terabethia a movie, too. Why must they violate our childhoods?

I saw that too, but was utterly unfamiliar with the book -- have come across several other people protesting the travesty as well. :(

How was Stardust?
