Well, we're pretty far from a regular army. And almost everyone brings a new, unique unit with them when they join.

I've had it since I first joined the Earth forces. This is a VF-1. I believe the VF-17 and -171 are the current mass-production types.

I'm not officially a mechanic, and I've been busy with issues relating to the Moonrace lately, so I'm a bit behind.

Well enough. How do you even find the parts for that thing?

It's tricky, certainly. I'm always keeping an eye on the surplus market, and I maintain what's already in there as long as possible. Fortunately most of the minor mechanical parts that wear out easily are the same in VF-11s and -17s. It's not until you get up to your AVFs like the Excalibur that parts aren't compatible anymore.
