I'm glad you're happier. That is a big relief, really, although I empathize completely with depression/sadness/homesickness. It's a big spectrum of emotions that you feel while abroad. Just try to stay positive. :)

i think how much i get out of being here is going to depend on how much i put into it and make the effort to have as much fun and see/do as many cool things as i can (and stop depending on other people to make plans). that's pretty much true of life in general, actually. lesson of the day.

I think you're absolutely right. I relied too much on other people and didn't get to travel or explore things in the way I wish I had. Keep it up, Eva! Have loads of fun and try new things as often as you can, even if you have to go alone. :)
