Ok, I can't remember much about this fic, but its bugging the crap out of me that I can't remember it. All i remember is that it is a Bring Back Black, post-OoTP fic. I know this is a bit late, and you've probably found it already, but could it be "Something This True", found at: http://www.sugarquill.net/read.php?storyid=2191&chapno=1 ?
It has a scene like you describe, with the unusual quirk that Sirius is there, and in fact the entire fic is from his point of view.
