(the other idea i had a long time ago was for a dragonriders-of-pern fusion. XD lilmatchgirl007 and i have had several discussions about this. you can either have kame be the rider and jinth be the dragon, or you can have kame and jin both be riders and yamapi be jin's shiny bronze dragon :DDDDDDD and someone like... maki would be kame's green. um. have you ever actually read any anne mccaffrey. >_>)

(XDDDD have never read pern stuff - i gave up a few pages into one of the books XD

well. i think pi should be the dragon, purely because he's got terrible hair at the moment and to make him a human would be a crime to humanity (but not dragonity, apparently). :/

and well. i think maru should be kame's dragon. because poor maru never makes it into fic ):)

aw, futsuu nakamaru. well i suppose that could be done. i was set on making kame a green rider because i liked the idea of him and his female dragon companion but i suppose he could have poor ordinary maru. maruth. ahahahaha. *easily amused*

The books haven't touched much on Japan yet

petronia and I are supposed to be writing that fic. Er, the BL version, anyway. We really need to get on it. And yeah, I've always figured access to dragons would be a warrior-class privilege in Japan, although the scenarios in my head are pretty heavily colored by Chinese influence and...and Buddhism. XD;

Oh really! Oh, that would be great, both of you would do an excellent job. *_* And hey, I'm totally okay with BL version. *g* I would be the first to admit that anything pre-1854 Japan is not exactly my area of expertise, so it's a little hazy in my head -- sort of a confused jumble of Heian-style names and dragons at Osaka Castle and all that.
