Spelling from the distance as she was, by no means, in preference to the close combat with these nasty beasts that grimed and pierced their teeth in her direction. Ice, fire and gravity kept them at bay as the one beside her obviously had no problems going in for the close kill.

She was under the impression that perhaps the more they killed the less there would be, at least she held hope for truth in that regard. However the numbers of creatures, and types were far many then she had seen out at night before.

She heard his count and felt her mouth drop, "Are you counting!" She couldn't help the smile that curved her lips, "There's too many to count! You sure you can keep up?" And her eyes went to the left, casting a fire spell to burn a group of leucrota, then she felt a sudden pinch of disappointment that she hadn't counted the lot she burned before they fell together in a mess.

"Damn.." She knew she couldn't keep up now, less she started counting from now on, "I'm giving myself a courtesy six.. for good measure.. you're on, ( ... )

A soft, sweet laugh soon followed. "Don't tell me that you don't count!" he shouted back rather good-naturedly, watching for a moment as leucrota turned into still-vaguely-burning hulks of flash upon the ground. Black magic truly was worrying, to say the least. Worrying in the wrong hands. He got an image of flashback for the smallest of moments, one siege in Al Zahbi he was ordered to assist in, and the cackling of one powerhouse of an absolutely insane black mage general Gadalar overtaking all of his other senses as he nuked the living Hell out of anything which dared set foot in the Commoner's ward.

The sound had chilled him at the time. It was ...absolute mania. This though, was completely different. Rinoa had control. Restraint. There was no chance of a few thunder spells being misfired for example... It really was quite a shock, even to him, that he'd been able to be anything but brisk with Rinoa. He'd laughed. Smiled. Actually laughed and smiled and meant the actions. It would take most years to be able to get that kind of ( ... )

One! The man said only one! Oh he must be joking, and the sound of him laughing only had her hopes raise even higher. "Ahh.." He mouth hanging open and her finger pointed to him and she shook her head and turned her attention back to the unpleasant atmosphere around them. Even so, she was relaxed and calm. This fighting with hope that perhaps they were making a difference had settled inside her and it made her all the more motivated.

"Well all right then.. Tough guy, I'll reduce my count to one.." She took a step forward and her wings expanded as her arms raised, "Wishing Star.." Whispering as she charged forward at lightening speed between two enemies, breaking the air between the two monsters with crackling stardust that trailed behind her, leaving the stars to bounce between the two enemies and collapsing them as she resurfaced beside Rishfee.

"Three.." And she caught glimpse of more to their left, "And in two more seconds, make that six.." She was intending on having that number back.

Making a difference, certainly. Even if it was only by a small amount, it helped. And learning about these creatures was the key to defeating them more efficiently. Head swimming with thoughts of where exactly these things applied in ecosystem (beast, maybe?) the young Immortal clicked his shoulders back and allowed himself the smallest of smiles as he watched her ( ... )

Rinoa's shock was ever more when the man had taken her kill, how cunning-- really. Her dark hair was pushed behind her ear as she looked away, "Just.. doing what I can as part of the exterminating committee.." Somewhere, she allowed herself the idea, Seifer had to be smiling.

Rishfee was certainly the skilled warrior, and she felt herself becoming all the more confident in his presence. Together, they could make the difference.

"All right, partner.. I'm going for the big ones to my left.." As her back was to his, "Think you can handle the ones to your left?" The monsters had taken in the tact of trying to surround the two of them as they parted and headed in their directions. Rinoa and Rishfee could intercept the leading one and take them out.

"Ready, steady.." And with a smile, "Go!" She headed for the tracking paws and with her blaster edge she cut limbs, and the beast fell onto it's bust in a bloody mess. As for the two behind the bleeding out monster, she took care of with the break spell. Their bodies crunching into ( ... )
