I know it's too late, but I'd say go to somewhere cheaper than the bookstore, and buy it as you will.

UBC has convenience at the cost of affordability, from what I've found.

i actually picked the bookstore because apple gives a nice student discount on computer stuff. :) however, they didn't have any adapters in stock, which happened to be a lucky occurrence because when i went to simply computing (the shitbags who held my laptop hostage for 3 weeks last summer) i found a 3rd party adapter for $59.99.
