Could you have a section that's something like "Teaching Related Experience" or just "Professional Experience" or something that could include other types of experiences?

Meanwhile, see if you can get a spring or summer class at a community college. Sometimes the teacher pools for summer open up about now, and sometimes people "get in" by picking up a last-minute spring opening.

I do think it's appropriate to briefly explain your responsibilties, particularly if you were teaching on your own. Often colleges call people "teaching assistants" when they have ALL the duties of professors. You want people reading your CV to know that you did more than just photocopy or lead a discussion group.

Thanks for the quick response! That's what I thought too re: my responsibilities. Also, I'll be teaching the same course this winter and hopefully a different one in the spring, so maybe I should communicate somehow that I'll be TA for the 06-07 academic year so they know it's not a one time thing? This is for a job application for the summer that I want to get in this week so I can be considered as early as possible.

I've seen CVs that specifically say "independently designed, taught, and graded course"... that way the reviewer knows you chose the material, did all the teaching and the grading, all yourself. Take that credit! :)

For teaching, you may want to have two headings, under which you list your classes: "Courses Designed and Taught" and "Courses Assisted." (For the latter, you will then also include the professor you assisted.) That way, it's clear how much control you had over each of the courses listed below them. (Obviously, if you only have courses for the first heading, don't put the second in yet until it's needed ( ... )

Thanks so much for all the great info! This helped a lot. I worked for 5 years before starting my MA program this past fall, so I'm far more knowledgable about resumes than CVs, and I didn't expect to have to do one this soon.
