2007 Fic Year in Review (ie: OMG I wrote *how* much?)

Dec 30, 2007 09:35

I came off a hiatus and started this year a fangirl without a fandom and I'm ending it on a way higher fannish note than I ever expected. Most of the way through 2006 I discovered Stargate: Atlantis and, when I ran out of new canon, Stargate: SG-1. January 2007 saw me taking my first tentative steps into the giant sprawling empire that is ( Read more... )

Wow, I didn't realize "Distance From Here..." had only been posted this year. (Although when I was doing my round-up of my own stuff, I was really surprised to find that some stories I thought I'd written ages ago were actually written in February and March. I guess the year's gone quicker than I thought ( ... )

Well, it was posted in early January and I did write most of it in 2006, so this roundup is really 2007 + change (pretty much since my hiatus ended).
(and, yeah, January and February were AGES ago :) )

Oh, definitely, I think people are much less likely to click on a really long story from a relatively new author (not as true in small fandoms when there isn't as much fic to choose from) and I understand that - it's a big risk and a big commitment. I do think had it been slash I *might* have gotten slightly more readers, but I agree that new author/big story had a large impact.
I've thought about poking ff.net, but it scares me somehow.

I still can't believe how much I wrote! But, yeah, I promise to write in 2008 and I really want to write more SGA. Just need the ideas to pop into my head (and, hey, two of WiPs involve SGA AND SG-1, so that's something)

Aw, thanks. Hope you like anything you read.

I'm impressed by my output too - and a little intimidated, since I doubt I'll live up to it next year.

Happy new year to you too!

Jeepers - that's more than a novel's worth of words. Just about two novels, even. Wow. And I owe you some feedback, too - I've read a lot more than I've commented on. These posts are very useful, I think I'll finally start using the 'memories' thingy and link to them all, so I've got something to read in January.

I know! When I saw my total wordcount my brain kinda fell over. and then I thought "so that's why I wasn't productive in Anything Else this year!"

Eh, I think everyone owes feedback somewhere. They'll be there if you feel like getting around to it.

Oh,yeah, these posts are fantastic! I'm collecting all the ones I see and plan to post them when I do my December monthly round-up. But I'm sure I'm missing some.
(of course my "to read" list is already embarrassingly long)

I wrote 60 (!) fics ranging in length from a 173 word 5-things response to a 28,130 SGA novella.

WTF???!!? You are a CRAZY PERSON. *gapes at you* I knew you'd written a lot this year (and I was jealous! :D), but I had no idea.

Also, YES on "Preserve Your Memories." It's really a stunning story, and I was so thrilled to see you write it. Your writing has grown so much this year.

I KNOW I AM CRAZY OMG!
(ie: I really need a life outside the interweb)

I honestly got more and more scared as the list got longer and longer when I made this post. And, really, if you knock out the "five things" which came in 3 specific clumps, the number drops A LOT.

Aw, thanks. Gotta love stories that jump out from nowhere and throttle you.
