Summary: She thought it would be romantic.
A/N: For the prompt Fireworks (somehow?) The title comes from "Playing With Fire" by BLACKPINK.
She giggled to herself as she sketched out another outfit. It would be perfect-the sun would be setting, and the fireworks being lined up to go off as soon as it was dark-and she would finally get him to admit his feelings for her.
It would be difficult, she knew, but Thomas Hunt was worth it.
She blushed as she inwardly squealed, thinking about how romantic it would be. She wondered if he would be willing to hold her hand or kiss her as the fireworks went off-but she brushed those thoughts aside as nothing more than a beautiful dream.
Even if she managed to get him to admit that he loved her, he wasn’t the type to indulge in her silly fantasies.
As she held his hand, tentative and unsure, she realized that it was completely off-base. She thought she was prepared for how her heart would pound in her chest, her cheeks heating up as she realized how obvious she was being, but nothing compared to now.
Nothing would prepare her for the way she melted when he talked to her, voice husky and soft as he whispered something almost sweetly.
She would remember how his cheeks were tinted pink, a bit embarrassed but definitely calmer than her, his face reflecting the colors of the fireworks. It would shift from red to white to blue, a reflection of the holiday they were spending together (after much pestering on her part).
But she barely paid any attention to the fireworks in the sky-a rarity since she loved how they illuminated the sky.
Instead, she thought of how she could maybe convince him to go on a date-not a pity date like their last one-and maybe she could end it with a kiss that met her expectations.
But then his hand squeezed hers briefly, and she ducked her head, suddenly bashful. It wasn’t as smooth as she was hoping, but it was perfect.
And maybe she liked this more than she liked her fantasies.
