GREAT line, and so very Mary. I really enjoyed this little history of them - insightful and a bit melancholy. I liked that Mary shows some self-knowledge about how hard she can be on Marshall, as well as her pledge to do better. Nicely done!

Only two comments so far? Really?!? I'm tempted to comment, like, a bajillion times just because this fic deserves it. Seriously. YOU MADE ME CRY. IT WAS INCREDIBLE.

I can't even tell you how much I loved the little details, like this line:

“You want to go get drunk?” He asks out of nowhere and she looks up to find him looking down at the file in his hands.

Because: SO TRUE. Poor Marshal, always looking at things-that-aren't-Mary when talking to Mary. :P

When she does think about it though, pictures herself ten years down the road, the only constant she seems to find is in Marshall. Still by her side, still her partner, still her everything.

I could shake your Mary senseless. But its true to character and a gorgeously simple and profound piece. I absolutely loved it. :)
