My favorite line: Gene was born into a mess, sure, but he was far too young to remember it. Far too young for the scars to leave a lasting impact. Sally can trace her own like braille, like roadmaps carved into her skin.
(Two nitpicks: I think Betty's maiden name is spelled Hofstadt; you’re mother isn’t always going to be there ought to be "your mother".)
