Wow. This was phenomenal. I think you wrote Sally beautifully, and captured Betty's bitterness at the lot she was given in life. And Megan! I only wish she and Don will be this happy in canon. Seriously lovely.

Thank you! I'm so pleased that you liked this. It was so nerve-wracking trying to live up to these characters in fic, so I am glad it worked for you. Thanks again for reading!

This is just beautiful - I love the dynamic that continues beyond Betty and Don's life, and the way Sally works so hard at finding her own definitions for herself and her family.

Oh, wow. This is marvelous: brittle and sad and beautifully written. I'm so happy you wrote this; I was contemplating something similar, a while ago, but couldn't have done it as well as you have. Mad Men fic is so rare (presumably because canon is so good), but this is a shining example of how it can be done.

My favorite line: Gene was born into a mess, sure, but he was far too young to remember it. Far too young for the scars to leave a lasting impact. Sally can trace her own like braille, like roadmaps carved into her skin.

(Two nitpicks: I think Betty's maiden name is spelled Hofstadt; you’re mother isn’t always going to be there ought to be "your mother".)

This is so delayed, but I just wanted to quickly say thank you for A) taking the time to read this, B) liking it enough to rec it and C) being kind enough to point out those errors. You are totally right - this show is so good, so well-written that I think most people don't have that need to explore it in fic, but this idea just would not let me go. I had so much fun writing this, and I can't tell you how pleased I am that you liked it. Thanks for taking the time to read!
