This perspective of him, *knowing* he's doing something that's HORRIBLY wrong and is going to end HORRIBLY and not being able to resist. It's EXACTLY how I see him (and honestly, exactly how I think it happened).

*The last line- uhhhhh.....yeah. HOT.

The part I love the most: And he did this. All him, really got into it. At this point, he *had* to know how she was (*had* to know that something Dear John would come out of it- have you heard it yet, btw?) and still couldn't resist. She's his Black Swan.

*And I am a Dork.

DUDE!!!!!!!!!

I've been listening to "Dear John" on constant repeat and holy hell, what a song. I am 100% convinced that he broke her heart and this is exactly what happened because do you hear the characteristic Mayer bluesy rifts and guitar solos in the background? It's like the ultimate slap in the face. I've always said that Taylor is a better lyricist than she is a singer, but her vocals on this track are absolutely haunting. And I normally don't like her slower stuff!

There's a plot line rolling around my head -- when he hears this on the radio, and he's sitting alone, scotch in hand and he laughs mirthlessly as he lights a cigarette and listens because he knew. HE ALWAYS KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. And later, at a Grammy after party (because man, this CD, she is so gonna win) and he raises a drink to her across a crowded party and she just smiles.

*sighs*

I'm officially on board, in case you couldn't tell.

Sorry to comment creep but I was just reading this story again (I LOVE IT) and um, please write that plot line of him hearing the song. I would love you forever - not that I don't already lol But my god, just the plot sounds incredible. I could just imagine how it would turn out if you wrote it!

I don't know if that particular story will get written, but I am writing a new one as we speak... or attempting to. IDK. It's more for my own piece of mind because I need to know what happened and obviously we will never know, so I'm going write it myself!

WHAT IS THIS?!?!?!

I still can't see them as a couple despite the evidence to the contrary and it is mostly because he is an ass, he knew it would be wrong and that he'd break her heart and yet, obviously, he did it anyway. It's all the reasons I hate him just as much as I love his music and you really captured that here.

Even if I am slightly squicked out by it all.
