When JC finally 'got the girl' in tKD I was waving my banner for the vampire. Up until that point, Richard seemed a little too perfect to be the real thing, even with his little sins (not mentioning he was a were, his problems with Marcus, his past with Raina).
I've always thought JC was the one for her, because he understood her better than herself, even when he was a devious, pushy SOB at times. And as the series progressed, and we see more of his mind, this is more and more clear.
And you've just captured this in your drabble. Maybe, some day, as centuries pass, Richard will finally learn how to understand her too.

*Snorts.* Makes me wish I could sit Richard down, and tell him, "Now, now. It isn't Jean-Claude's fault. It's LKH's fault." Yes, yes I'm bitter.

What an interesting little discussion. The books sometimes hint at conversations between Jean-Claude and Richard, but we never get to hear one. Thanks for providing a glimpse into their heads.

Oooh, I love this one! As lorienwillow said, it's fascinating to actually *see* a conversation that very well might have taken place...especially since I get the feeling that Richard & Jean-Claude talk to each *other* lately more than either of them sees Anita. ::rolls eyes:: I love seeing drabbles with the older characters like this, since they are still the ones that keep me reading the damn series. Anyway, this was fantastic, you captured both characters incredibly well, and I look forward to more of your drabbles! ^_^

Thank you so much! Your comments really mean a lot. I do think Richard and Jean-Claude have had to do some serious talking. Richard resents so much about how he was treated early on by Marcus and Raina and even by Jean-Claude that I think if the tri was ever going to work, they had to talk to each other. Richard is still attached to something that just isn't possible but it's hard to let your dreams die. You think you must be disappointing someone besides yourself, that you are letting people down. Okay, enough rambling.
