So I'm just going to assume based on the information here that insomnia posted somebody's personally identifying information and that that's against the rules so it's a justifiable suspension like pretty much every other one posted about in this community.

Not having seen the post for which insomnia was suspended, I don't know whether he did or not.

"Whois" information is public, not private, information, available to anyone on the web; on the other hand, the Abusive Team once reportedly threatened suspension of a user who posted information taken from a government website list of sex offenders that a another user was a convicted pedophile (the information was posted because the other user in question allegedly was about to have his thirteen-year-old "boyfriend" move in with him) so I guess they don't care if the information is public elsewhere or not.

It doesn't matter if WHOIS information is public. You're not allowed posting anyone's IRL name or address or phone number or anything on LJ.

You can even get suspended for posting someone's screenname even if it's on their user info.
