I know. I saw your last post and I'm so sorry if it was my post that made you so sad before. But I'm so happy that you can give a little to help. Really, every dollar helps. Think of if just everyone who read this post on their friends list gave $5! And then if each person who donates can get just one other person to also... that's the idea. I don't have a huge reader list, but it would be so much more than I could do personally.
I'm an animal lover and I donate around $5000 a year to our local no-kill cat shelter. I've donated money already to the Red Cross for this tragedy, but I can't help feeling guilty for donating money to help animals during this crisis when I could be doing more financially to help people. I'm really, really torn. But I know I can't just ignore such suffering. I'd die if I had to leave any of my cats behind. The next check will go to the animals. I really hope I'm doing the right thing.
*Thank you* for this. I always feel a bit guilty when I donate to animal causes instead of people. But now I feel a lot better about the choices I've made.
We're broke for the next few weeks, but my parents are donating money to the Humane Society in our names as our Christmas present. Going to see what I can do next pay period, though most of it's got to go to "pay this right now or else" bills. :(
I totally understand, and it's part of my motivation for passing the torch along to as many people as I can. I figure if I can't give a lot, maybe I can get a couple more to do something too and it will add up.
