You know, now that you mention it, I think I did ask for one. I think my parents laughed at me and told me I didn't need to take a Crown Royal bag to school (not that we had one). LOL!
I don't remember anyone else showing up with one. Just that one kid.
Nope, they never told me where those bags came from. I knew it was something that you drank, but I thought of Crown Royal the same way I thought about Canada Dry. It never occured to me that there was liquor in the bottle.
It's good to know that my innocence remained intact for the most part during those elementary years. ;-)
it's funny b/c my cousin and i were just talking about how every black kid had a black man in their family who kept valuables in a crown royal bag...and that led to talking about how crown royal bags were a part of black culture, etc...
That is funny. I remember the only person I knew who had them were my grandfather...and come to think about it, I think he did keep loose change in there, and I mean A LOT of it.
Funny you should mention this. I saw a Crown Royal bag in a car and I just remembered how I would see these bags at different family's members house holding change before I knew what Crown Royal was.

My grandfather used to gather all the grandkids around and put change in the Crown Royal bag. We had to guess how much money was in there and whoever had the closest guess got to keep the money.
