Yesterday, I substitute taught 4th grade and they were AMAZING. Not a single bad attitude kid or direction rebel or anything. Everything rolled along smoothly - I didn't have to remind them to be quiet or to do their work or stop messing around. "Do coyotes eat bears?" - most commonly asked question.
"Large meat predators rarely eat each other." - answer
"Oh? So do bears eat coyotes?" - typical response
*facepalm*
"Can anything eat an eagle?"
"Leave the eagle be. They're endangered."
"Can anything eat an owl?"
"I highly doubt it. They're the rulers of night."
"Can anything eat a blue jay?"
"You know... that's a legit question..."
Also, they could draw their animals if they wanted. Yes, there was an alligator eating a coyote. It was too early to slap some social studies - geography on them about climates and locations. That happened at the end of the day XD

that's why i've always liked social studies and the social sciences. there's nothing set in stone for anything and you have to think way outside the box. but, then again, i have a BA in Justice Studies and was three classes away from a minor in sociology, so i'm a little biased. ;)

i love history. if i'd known i was going to get so sick, i would have majored in it rather than JS. *sighs* oh well, i can use it in my writing.
and that's why i fail at math and science. my mind just doesn't work that way. oddly enough, however, only my sister and i are like this, the rest of the family is science and math. means we have fun together. she calls us twins born 20s something years apart.
