LJ: a great place to vent out your frustrations to the masses

After 8 or so years now, Mom wants to finally treat me like the 'kid' I'm supposed to be.  I understand completely where she's coming from and know that I never got a proper childhood; I was either playing the 'mommy' role when she wasn't around (which was most of the time), cleaning, making supper, etc.  I've never gotten a childhood so now, out ( Read more... )

Post KSS? I plan on moving out somewhere. I should actually find the time to sit down and plan this out. I was leaning towards either UBC in Vancouver or UVIC but I need to still research both uni's.

And thanks, I'm glad that it's not only my mom that's crazy.

The 'disciplining the kids' rule I can't comprehend, but a set bed time is generally a good thing anyway.

You don't want to end up like me with massive bags under my eyes because I don't want to sleep before 12. Sleep = FTW, and cos you're a teen you need all the sleep you can get! If your mum's just doing it so you're a 'kid', that's stupid. But if she's thinking healthwise, that's reasonable.

I wish you the best in this anyway! Parents are always a fuss xD

Yeah, I understand completely where you and my mom are coming from. She's also worried about my health and I have been a bit tempormental as of late. I guess I'm just getting mad with the 'lack of freedom' and the timing in all of this. I mean, I'm going to become an adult next year. It's kinda late to be treating my like a kid.

This is insane. Let me get the facts straight - your mom wants to give you back your childhood, so she only gives you the bad parts of it? Not on. If anything, you've proven that you're mature enough to take care of others, so she should leave you alone to take care of yourself. I can imagine you're frustrated, because suddenly having a bed time when you're almost officially adult anyway is just nonsense. (I had a bed time when I was in primary school, but never after that. And I'm still alive, surprisingly! /sarcasm)

Ha, yeah, my bedtime stopped in middle school. And I agree! It feels like she's giving me the bad parts of childhood. What makes me more frustrated is she doesn't seem to understand where I'm coming from in all this.

Seriously, the sooner you turn eighteen, the better. You don't deserve being treated like this now.

I'm not alone. I'm mainly just frustrated that I'm having my
'freedom's taken away.
