Okay, in no particular order, here are the events that took place today. The title refers to ch. 70 from the FMA manga...sadly, I also spoiled a bit of the 'future' for myself as well. *cries ( Read more... )

Eh, you've just reminded me that I'm still kind of afraid to speak Japanese. I think I know how you feel about this. I talk even to my Japanese friend in English most of the time, actually...maybe next time I'll pull myself together and ask him to teach me properly. ^_^

Sorry, rambling today... Hope this makes you feel better about your own Japanese, though. Surely you speak it more often than me! xD

I'm guessing you share this fear, but I don't speak most of the time because I'm worried I'll get something wrong.

My friend, Garrett, said it best: 'You're thinking too much. You're trying to say it perfect when you aren't even fluent.'

I just have to let it out; mistakes will help me learn and that's what I'm here for, right?

Yeah, that might well be our problem. But I hope you conquer it while you're still in Japan - follow your friend's advice! ^_~

You know, I always compare my Japanese to my English, which is pure nonsense since I never had to actually study English in the first place. Japanese takes way more effort and it definitely won't come to me just by itself unless I reach some higher level. Hurts to admit this, but it seems to be the best explanation...

Sorry had to.
I remember the convo we had about when you mentally race the person in the car next to you. They don't even know they are racing.

You'll do fine with speaking Japanese only. Just amember to laugh at yourself too if you make a mistake and people start to giggle.

Also btw just reading that Jessica's 3RD language is chinese makes me jealous. I only know one *cries in corner*

Ha, yuppers. I so agree with you on the crying bit. I want to learn French, Russian, and Chinese when I get back. *feels ambitious*

Hey, you never know. Maybe your Japanese will work out. It's okay to make mistakes like that. That's how you learn faster, is by making mistakes.

Most of the time I DO say it right (or at least close enough so they can understand me)...I don't know why that's not convincing enough.

I just to follow Ms. Frizzle's #1 rule: Make mistakes!!
