Lal Mirch had made it into the building unnoticed, no doubt, by sneaking in from a lower window that wasn't being guarded as well at it should have been. The woman had decided to come alone, to figure out for herself as to what really happened here. She needed to know-- for Colonello.

Judging from the different accounts and information, the dead wouldn't stay dead. Even if that was the case, she was definite and determined to turn the building upside down if she had to. Anything to find what she was searching for. What had caused this murder. Lal was on high alert, goggles helping with the detection of moving objects; her cloak covering most of her body. Heat signals would go off when something was identified, allowing her to move from hall to hall with definite stealth.

That still didn't shake off the feeling that someone-- something, was there, as she continued to climb the floors. It was a presence she couldn't quite grasp, always tempted to turn when she felt the hairs on the back of her neck rise from the chilling breeze. The ( ... )

Maybe it was silly to even want to investigate the murders given the condition he was in. Maybe it was hypocritical after what he'd said ( ... )

Another turn here, another turn there--

And she found it. The scene of the crime. Lal would be lying to herself if she said she wasn't at all disappointed, for the fact that there was nothing there. No clues, no drops of blood, nothing. It was all perfect, as if nothing had taken place. As much as she examined the chairs, the tables, and the floor beneath, she couldn't find anything. Whatever evidence that was here before was now long gone. She muttered, realizing that her chances of finding something were back to the low percentages. "Damn it..."

Taking a deep breath, Lal Mirch rested briefly against the wall, analyzing the situation and thinking of an alternative. There were still more floors above-- she could search through those. Getting back to her feet, she walked out, beginning to head for the top floors as quickly and quietly as possible.

Still nothing.

Elena froze, pressing her back against the hallway wall as she heard the sound of human speech ( ... )

Sneaking by hadn't been as difficult as Rinoa previously imagined, but it was the navigating that was becoming a problem. She wasn't so sure of the layout, although gut feeling had managed to get her this far. Any noises she could hear were brushed off as passing security and, just for a moment, she found hiding in the shadows provided to do her well. Unaware of others in the building, Rinoa continued her search alone, communicator held tight in one hand for reference. She had saved what Caim was able to send her before, and with increased curiosity she had gone on without escort.

Not once did she try to look in to where the murders happened. Honestly, she couldn't stomach it. Even though she had been there that night, listened as people screamed, maybe even screamed herself as she was rushed out, she couldn't see it again. Whatever they did to clean it up... Just, no. People over the system only made it worse, especially when she heard the unfamiliar voice shouting for Aerith.

Aerith...Rinoa shook her head roughly, strands of ebony ( ... )

Returning to the casino took longer than Angeal anticipated, but it had become increasingly more important that he covered all of his bases before leaving anyone behind. Some hours ago he had slipped in through a side window without stirring attention. The security was nothing his training hadn't prepared him for, although he did find himself pausing with the intention of reporting to invisible comrades. It was very possible that he hadn't been getting enough sleep in the past several nights ( ... )

Maybe she shouldn't have focused so desperately on the mystery. Maybe she could have heard him coming. Maybe then she wouldn't have jumped quite as high as she did ( ... )

"It may have been," Angeal admitted with a measure of guilt. He had no reason to cause her more panic. Not when he couldn't confirm anything. What she thought she felt may have simply been inspired by her imagination after wandering around in the dark ( ... )
