Mac had been standing over his desk when there was a knock on the door, and he had to admit, he was a bit surprised. He wasn't expecting anyone, and although Sinclair was prone to dropping in without warning in order to pay him a visit, he usually would announce himself first. Anyone he was on a case with would just walk in, so in the end, the list of people he knew behind that door was a slim one, but none of them seemed all that likely.

He looked up and was even more surprised to see Anna standing there. He placed the file back down on his desk before making his way closer as he gestured for her to come in.

She gave Mac a tired smile and tucked her bangs behind her ear before glancing around the office. "It's hardly changed..."

"Old habits die hard," he admitted with a bit of a nod, before gesturing for her to sit down. "And I've never really been all that fond of change. Please, have a seat."

"Thanks." Anna took a seat and adjusted her scarf before looking up at Mac. It was funny how a year could change a person so much, she thought. Her eyes lost their bright enthusiasm and were dull. She was a hardened soldier now, far from the person Mac and his team used to know. But if there was anyone who had been a surrogate father figure to her, it was Mac.

"How's the team doing? I heard about Jess while I was on the road..."
